You can learn a lot about someone by walking in his or her moccasins, as well learn a little or should I say a lot about yourself. Getting to know another deeply allows us to know ourselves deeply, as well. Can you imagine if you switched roles? Would you have more compassion then you normally do? Would you have that same compassion for yourself?
I had the opportunity to switch roles today with a very good friend. Our mission was to “Design Our Life” (in the most loving and desirable way we could). But the paradox was we designed not our own, but the others. Now we knew each other quite well. We understood the others gifts and weaknesses. But the most important realization I had was that I wanted it for the other person more than I wanted it for myself. While designing their life, I wanted the person to understand how much they had to offer and what profound gifts they had. There was no reason that my friend couldn’t accomplish or acquire this life. There was no reason this person couldn’t be extremely happy and joyful, plus live in a life of abundance.
How many times have you noticed others not taking advantage of their gifts? How many times have you noticed that others focus on what they can’t do as opposed to what they can do? How many times have you noticed others putting themselves in their own private jail? Have you noticed others stifling their dreams and their ability to create and live a life of promise? And have you noticed others stuck in the past and stuck in their own muck? We are all mirrors, what we see in others, we see in ourselves.
Switch roles, and better than that not with just anyone, but with someone you admire and believe in, even though that person may not and have it reciprocated. You will find that it will give you as much as it will give them. Share it, both read it. Mark my word they will see the glory of becoming and realize they were the only one that was stopping the creation. They will allow themselves to dream beyond limits. They will have hope and be given permission for a dream come true. You gave them a gift and guess what you will be receiving the same in return. You will acknowledge your own gifts and dreams. We seem to all underestimate our abilities and worth. Have a best friend remind you that you are worth it, you are valuable and that they believe in you, especially when you can’t believe in yourself.
We are all gifts and one of our purposes is to know that, mirror it to the world and know that is so important to own it and share it.
